Essay criteria & guidelines, including submission deadline, are listed below. Each student submitting their service idea should be sponsored by a school liaison. This can be a teacher, administrator or counselor. Each sponsor will coach the student(s) through the submission and service project process.
The Service Learning Grant Committee will evaluate submissions and announce award(s) on April 5, 2024.

Essay submission guidelines:
Describe the service project in an essay (250-word limit)
Include the following:

Detail the service project goals (what you want to accomplish):

How many children will the service project serve?

What is the geographical area of service project?
-
How will you implement the service project plan?

How will you evaluate the benefits of the service project?
Service project criteria:
-
Service project must benefit kids in a KY school district/community.

Grant requests must be made for a specific project/idea.

Requests can be made for $500-$1,500.

All funds awarded by the Toy Chest must be used on the service project for which it was awarded or returned to the Toy Chest at the end of the project.

Service project or grant money cannot be used to promote religious or political ideals/philosophy or discriminate against any religious or political ideal/philosophy.

Service project or grant money cannot be used to discriminate against anyone based on race, religion, color, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, age, or national origin.
